Resist, Reject and Report Violence, #RRRV2023 Right to personal security ZPP recorded 8 cases in areas including Harare Central, Chiwundura and Kadoma Central, which violated the right to personal security. On 17 December at Rumwe Shopping Centre in Kadoma Central, a group of artisanal miners assaulted and robbed citizens of their money, cell phones and groceries. On 16 December, three people believed to be CCC members were allegedly assaulted by unidentified but suspected Zanu PF youths at Mabodza Business Centre in Chiwundura, ward 5. This followed a decision by Zanu PF to aggressively expand its mobilisation in Chiwundura in a bid to reclaim the parliamentary seat after winning the by-election in Gweru Senga suburb ward 5. According to Articles 3 and 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), every person has the right to personal liberty and security. This is supported by Article 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights. The right to bodily and psychological integrity, which includes the right to be free from all types of violence from public or private sources, is guaranteed under Section 52 of the Zimbabwean Constitution.
