The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory
Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) should also
explain how the ruling party obtained the
electorate’s phone numbers. If the electoral
commission was involved in leaking the
electorate’s information, it would compromise
free and fair elections by giving one party an
unfair advantage. Andre w Makoni, the
chairperson of Zimbabwe Electoral Support
Network (ZESN), questioned the compliance
with the Data Protection Act regarding the
source of phone numbers used to send voters’
messages. The ZEC Deputy Chairperson
Commissioner Rodney Simukai Kiwa in
response said that the commission had not
availed a voters roll with the electorate’s phone
numbers to Zanu PF. Meanwhile, MDC Alliance
leader Douglas Mwonzora will have his
application challenging the ZEC’s Delimitation
Report heard on an urgent basis.
TOWARDS A ZIMBABWE
WHERE THERE IS PEACE,
JUSTICE, DIGNITY AND
DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL
This comes after the Constitutional Court
granted his urgent chamber application for leave
to have direct access to the apex court on
grounds that his matter was arguable. ZEC
contends everything is in order and that redoing
the Delimitation Report would be a waste of
resources. The contention before the court is
that the Delimitation Report is an essential
element of the elections scheduled for some
time in August.

ZPP joined the rest of the world in commemorating World
Health Day which is commemorated annually on the 7th of
April. Zimbabwe’s health delivery system has for years
been crippled due to lack of institutional support by the
government, as well as rampant corruption. Zimbabwe
has confirmed more than 438 cholera cases (as of 19 April
2023) since the outbreak in February this year with the first
case being recorded in Chegutu. According to the cholera
situational analysis report by the Ministry of Health and
Child Care, out of 404 suspected cases, the country has
confirmed 76 cases so far. During the Post-Cabinet Press
Briefing on the 19th of April, the Ministry of Health
reported that Zimbabwe’s cumulative suspected cholera
cases stood at 457 with 438 recoveries and 2 deaths.
