Peter Anusi allegedly assaulted an MDC-T activist Simon
John for conducting a door to door campaign issuing residents
with affidavit forms for Biometric Voter Registrations (BVR)
in Chitungwiza Unity N. An eyewitness said that the assailants
forcefully entered John‘s house and dragged him out with his
family before assaulting them. The assailants who were also
looking for three MDC-T activists identified as Amos Kaliyati
(Delma), Ethrida Chidavayenzi and Getrude Machakaride
attacked Kaliyati’s wife Audrey Taruwona in a suspected
arson attack at night around 2300hrs. Taruwona sustained
deep cuts in the head and their property was destroyed. The
assailants confiscated phones from the victims and abducted
John before handing him over at Makoni Police Station on
allegations of attempting to destroy assets belonging to Zanu
PF Councillor Betty Dokora-Jaison. Although perpetrators are
known in this case and in many others no arrests have been
made.
