Resist, Reject and Report Violence, #RRRV2023 Manicaland The provincial highlights of the month in Manicaland were mainly derived from the Zanu PF internal polls. These were noted to have been marred by vote buying, intimidation as well as coercion of people to attend campaign meetings. In Buhera West, ward 5, Zanu PF house of assembly aspiring candidates Saul Nzuma (incumbent), Wilbert Nzuma, Geli Miti, and Tafadzwa Mugwadi reportedly forced villagers to attend their campaign meetings in the build-up to the party’s primary elections. This meant that villagers left behind their daily business and attended these meetings against their will. Partisan distribution of food aid continued to be recorded. In ward 19, Nyanga South at Sedze Business Centre, government input distribution which included fertilisers was hijacked by Zanu PF and distributed to Zanu PF members, leaving out villagers who were not from the Zanu PF party, specifically CCC members. The distribution was led by the Zanu PF ward chairperson only identified as Nyahokwe, Secretary Ester Masheru and an Agritex officer identified as Monzora. This was likely to compromise people’s political choices to benefit from the aid that would come into their area in the future. MARCH 2023 The Zimbabwe Peace Project Monthly Monitoring Report 23
