Generally there has been relative peace in most of the constituencies save for a few like
the Harare Central Constituencies where the police disrupted MDC-T demonstrations.
Factionalism within the Zanu PF is taking another turn as it is manifesting within the
party structures such as the youth and women’s league which have openly endorsed the
appointment of the First Lady to lead the Women’s League.
Ø 1 August 2014- In Harare Central ZRP disrupted the demonstration by more than
fifty MDC-T youths who were demonstrating, demanding two million jobs
promised by Zanu PF government during the 2013 election campaign. Similar
demonstrations were repeated on the 18th and 27th of August 2014 and the riot
police assaulted and arrested some of the demonstrators.
Ø 26 August 2014- In Glenview South the Zanu PF branch chairperson Mrs
Hombarume and Florence Musami, district youth chairperson and two other
members moved door-to-door around the constituency forcing residents who are
eighteen years and above to buy Zanu PF electronic cards at $2 each.
In August the province witnessed an increase in the number of cases of human rights
violations with 11 from 3 reported in July 2014.

1 August 2014 - In ward 12, village 5, Bubi constituency, villagers are facing
displacement from a farm known as Mr Philip’s Farm. The villagers most of them
Zanu PF supporters are said to have occupied part of the farm during the year 2000
farm invasions. It is reported that it had been agreed that the resettled villagers
would occupy a certain section of the farm and not overlap to the other parts.
However, the resettled villagers are reported to have overlapped to the other parts of
the farm prompting the son of Mr Philips to approach the DA to address the matter.
It is then reported that the DA ordered the resettled villagers to leave the farm as
quickly as possible. It is then further reported that there is now tension as the
resettled villagers have nowhere to go.
Mat South remained in the range of an average of 5 cases of politically motivated
violence. Of concern are cases of land invasion in the province.
