The province has continued to witness farm invasions long after the land reform
programme was declared complete. Factionalism in Zanu PF party is becoming evident
in the province as the December elective congress approaches.
Ø 14 August 2014 – Zanu PF supporters identified only as Mrs Mukoka and Mr.
Mawara from State Security invaded Zororo farm in Muzarabani South. The two
drove away a white farmer and have since taken over operations on the farm.
Ø 26 August 2014- An MP for Muzarabani South, Christopher Chitindi invaded
Samaphiri farm forcing the resident family off the farm.
Factional fighting within the opposition parties, harassments and intimidation were the
major sources of violations during the month under review in the province. On 19
August Mabeta of Mtawawatawa in Maramba Pfungwe was assaulted by 4 Zanu PF
members with open fists and logs after a heated argument on the effects of
indigenisation. Mabeta had summed up the negative impact of indigenization on the
ordinary people.
Ø MDC-T supporters and members of the Renewal Team had a fight at the MDCT party office in Morningside in Marondera on 31st August. MDC-T members
gathered at their office to choose leaders in preparation of the October congress.
The Renewal Team members led by Phillip Ruzvidzo came to the venue having
planned to disturb proceedings. They were refused entry at the gate leading
them to jump the fence. This infuriated MDC-T members and they started to
fight the intruders.
Ø 15 August 2014 - A group of Zanu PF supporters led by Taka Choto forced an
MDC-T supporter to pay money for Heroes Day celebrations he had not paid
prior to celebrations. This occurred at Uzumba at Patsika Business Centre.
While another MDC-T supporter was harassed by Victor Mtezo of Zanu PF and
forced to buy a party card at Magacha village in Hwedza.
Ø George Katsande the son of the Mudzi West MP Aquiline Katsande addressed
villagers at Chimanga Primary school in ward 4. He declared that in his
mother’s constituency people should stop wearing red clothes as they were
doing during election campaign in 2013.George indicated that names would be
written of those who show that they don’t like Zanu PF. The red colour is an
MDC-T party colour.

bring grain for a private sale. When people brought their grain it was then diverted
to GMB. But when one of the villagers (name supplied) also of Zanu PF wanted to
know why Moyo had delivered their maize to the GMB, he was told that the maize
had gone to the GMB so that it could feed the nation. When the victims persisted on
the reason of sending the maize of the people, Moyo accused them of being
enemies of the state.
