Forever Associate Zimbabwe Citizens reported that Zanu PF affiliate organisation FAZ was forcing people to register their names with them for unknown reasons. Citizens were told to visit the FAZ desk, which was mounted 300 metres away from the polling station, before and after casting their votes. This was most prevalent in Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Matabeleland, Midlands and some parts of Mashonaland West. In Gwanda North ward 4 it was noted that FAZ member Dennis Moyo was telling citizens that they needed to tabulate results with ZEC so that Zanu PF wins elections. In Bikita East ward 18, Jealous Nyaunzvi is reported to have threatened citizens that failed to visit the FAZ desk with assault. Major Highlights Insights into the Post-Election Environment The post-election environment was unstable characterised by an increase in cases of political violence targeting perceived opposition supporters by Zanu PF supporters and traditional leaders. Most of the victims mapped were Citizens Coalition for Change candidates and polling agents. A case on the right to personal security was reported in ward 11, Buhera South on 23 August. It is alleged that the CCC aspiring councillor and a male election agent were attacked by suspected Zanu PF supporters on 23 August on their way to a polling station where voting was in progress. The duo was reportedly abducted and taken to a secluded place where they were brutally assaulted and left in a disoriented state. In Mutasa Central CCC polling agents were reportedly displaced by alleged Zanu PF youths led by ward 22 Councillor only identified as Cleopas. Reports indicate that the CCC activists received death threats which forced them to abandon their homes to live in nearby mountains in fear of their lives. It is said that about three CCC activists who were deployed as polling agents at Mwoyoweshumba Polling station (ward 19) were displaced on 31 August 2023. Page 4
