got nothing. Officials from the Department of Social Welfare had not been identified so
residents did not know where to report their grievances during the distribution.
In Luveve Zanu PF officials accompanied by some members of the police were registering
people for seed and fertilizer distribution. It is alleged that there was discrimination as
registration was based on political party allegiance. Those known to support opposition
political parties were excluded from the process.

Chipo Chin’ono, Zanu PF district chairperson, is alleged to have accused *Misheck
Karimazondo and others of supporting MDC-T and therefore told them to get the farming
inputs from their party. Headman Hacknos Gumai of Dororwa village in Buhera South later
summoned the victims to the headman’s court and further threatened them with eviction if
they continued to support MDC-T.
During distribution that was held at Utseya village in ward 17, Zanu PF Councillor, Lovemore
Utseya, refused to give 5kg bags of maize seed to several villagers saying that they had not
voted for newly elected Zanu PF Member of Parliament, Nokuthula Matsikenyere, in the last
by-election in Chimanimani West.
*Viola Chikasha, a ZimPF supporter was allegedly denied access to food aid that comprised
of a 50 kg bag of maize by Zanu PF councillor Jane Ziki at Jaggers Township in Buhera
South. Chikasha’s name has been on the food register and she was a regular recipient of aid.
The councillor is alleged to have cancelled Chikasha’s name because of her affiliation to Zim
PF.
Two MDC-T supporters were allegedly denied access to maize seed by youth officer Jofter
Matanda in Mupatsi village, ward 18, Makoni West. It is reported that Matanda asked all the
people expecting to receive farming inputs to produce Zanu PF membership cards. The two
failed to produce cards and were told to affiliate with Zanu PF if they wanted to access the
aid.
Naomi Baradza, an MDC-T supporter from ward 17 in Chikanga, was reportedly barred from
getting rice which was being distributed by Esau Mupfumi’s aide, James Gwete. Gwete is
alleged to have publicly stated that this is what happens when one is not a Zanu PF member.
