believed to terrorise residents from their base at a car park at the Zengeza 5 Football
ground. The police had to intervene and teargas was used to disperse the crowd. The
MP had to run away after he had been assaulted. The Standard Newspaper of June 19
also reports of the assault of an Alpha Media Holdings journalist in the same incident.
According to the newspaper Officer Commanding Chitungwiza District Chief
Superintendent Ndou confirmed the police had been notified of the meeting.
On 18 June Epworth ward 7 residents had a development meeting. A quarrel arose
over the amount of money they were proposing to contribute towards the installation
of electricity. The meeting ended up being a political meeting after Zanu PF party
chairperson Muroyiwa and other party officials took over forcing people to pay $25
per month although people wanted to pay $10 due to economic hardships. They
chanted Zanu PF slogans denouncing opposition party leaders. All those who were
opposing $25 were said to be opposition party supporters and were threatened with
beatings.
There was chaos in Kambuzuma on the afternoon of 19 June after Zanu PF and MDCT youths clashed. The clashes started after Zanu PF ward chairperson Madhobha
together with youths only known as Viny and Julius raided MDC-T youths market
stalls at Kambuzuma section 3 shops. They took the MDC-T party President Morgan
Tsvangirai’s portrait and shredded it to pieces and also took MDC-T fliers before
driving away. The youths assaulted an MDC-T youth known as Chris who was
manning the market stalls and looted some groceries. Upon hearing the news the
MDC-T youths grouped and some went with Chris to Warren Park Police Station to
make a report while others went after the Zanu PF youths in section 5. It is not clear if
a police report was indeed made. When the two groups met they exchanged blows and
when Zanu PF youths saw that they were being overpowered they started picking up
stones and half bricks and which they threw at MDC-T members and one of them hit
Madhosi the MDC-T provincial member who lost a tooth. He reported the case to the
police and was treated at Harare Hospital. No arrests were made by the police
although they indicated investigations were ongoing.
Zanu PF youths led by Archford Mavhimira were moving around tearing ZimPF
posters for a rally which was held on the 25th on 21 June, at what is known by the
MDC-T as the Freedom Square while Zanu PF refers to it as the Robert Mugabe
Square. The Zanu PF youths were saying they were irritated to see the face of Mai
Mujuru they even gathered at a place where ZimPF usually gather for their meetings
as a way of intimidating them but the ZimPF held their meeting at Donald Chimatira's
house.
Glenview South MP Pius Madzinga was allocated an office at Glenview 3
Community Centre and now the centre is reportedly a no go area for other political
parties and every programme there must have something to do with Zanu PF. Zanu
PF are always there monitoring the premises to make sure that all activities there are
being conducted by Zanu PF members. The community centre is the property of the
City of Harare but the Zanu PF youth were saying Local Government Minister
Kasukuwere is the boss and the centre is theirs now.
On 25 June, members of ZimPF were reportedly assaulted by suspected Zanu PF
supporters accusing them of attending the ZimPF rally. Seven people were injured
