vulnerable children. Forty beneficiaries received
food but those known to support opposition
political parties were excluded. During the
distributions Tendai Matikiti, Zanu PF youth
chairperson in Murehwa North, is alleged to have
forced people to chant Zanu PF slogans and sing
revolutionary songs. The Ward Councillor,
Sheppard Semayi was responsible for distributing
and screening the beneficiaries.
A FOOD FOR WORK BENEFICIARY WHO RECEIVED FOOD AID A
DAY AFTER OTHER BENEFICIARIES
It is alleged that MDC-T members were
discriminated against by a ruling party ward
secretary in an incident recorded on 11 May at
Mutorezani farm, ward 28 in Muzarabani South.
Reports are that Abraham Munina, Rodwell
Munina and Dalis Arufeyo went to Tapiwa
Mukwase, ward 28 secretary, to submit their
names as food aid beneficiaries but they were
turned down and labelled traitors. It is said that
Mukwaze told the three men that when
campaigns begin they are going to face his wrath.
He also said it was an offence to add them on the
list of beneficiaries because the government is
Zanu PF. Mukwase is said to have announced that
only Zanu PF supporters benefit and opposition
members would only benefit if they repent.

Zanu PF councilor Peter Chinyoka and Walter
Nzaka, threatened to deny food handouts to
beneficiaries with no ruling party membership
cards. The threats were made prior to a food
distribution exercise at ward 15 Dandamera
community hall on 12 May in Mazowe West.
There was a social welfare food distribution at
Magamba shopping centre, ward 30 in Murehwa
North on 22 May. The food was meant for the
