Forced to attend the 25 October Anti-Sanctions March
ZPP recorded incidents where citizens were forced to attend the state organised anti-sanctions
march on October 25. In Makoni Central, it is alleged that people were forced to attend the antisanctions. Reports say that Zanu PF district leaders in Makoni advised people to attend the march
without fail. It is said that people were threatened with denial of pfumvunza agricultural inputs if
they failed to attend the march. In Rusape town a family which came to process a death certificate
of their late father reportedly spent part of the day sitting outside the Registrar’s office as no one
was present to assist them. It is said that vendors were forced to attend the anti-sanctions march
organised by Zanu PF in Murehwa North at Murehwa Growth point. Zanu PF district leaders told
all vendors at Murehwa growth point to close business and attend the anti-sanctions march at the
business centre. It is said that all vendors had their personal details recorded to identify with those
who will not have participated. Zanu PF youths were reportedly assigned to take down vendor’s
names, contact details, Id numbers, their village and address. Students from Murewa Mission,
Hurungwe and Shalom colleges were also present in their numbers which was condemned by
