It is alleged that one Mrs Dube from ward 12 in Mkoba was requesting people queuing to get
food aid to first produce Zanu PF membership cards. During that distribution only people in
possession of membership cards got food aid.

Villagers from Gokwe Chireya were each made to pay 50 cents in order for them to benefit from
future government food aid schemes. It is alleged that while collecting the money, Timothy
Pamire, the local Zanu PF chairperson said “Please pay. A cow will never allow a dog to suckle
from its udder”.
Zanu PF councillor, Washington Chimushonga, approached 70 year-old *Charles Moyo and told
him that he would not get food aid because he is an MDC-T supporter. The maize was meant for
vulnerable community members like people with disabilities, orphans and the elderly in
Chiundura ward 10.

There was an exercise in Epworth to register old people, people with disabilities, the
chronically ill and child headed families for food aid. People had their names registered and
then referred to Makombe building for vetting. Most people could not travel to town and Zanu
PF officials organized transport to ferry their party members only. Residents were aggrieved
and suggested that welfare officials should visit Epworth for vetting.
