December after being asked to provide serial numbers of voter
registration slips .The four victims namely Lovejoy Mhaka*,
Claris Nyemba*, Patience Nyika* and Lilian Pikirisi* were
asked to hand over registration slips to the headman. The
victims said that headman Nyoka approached them and
demanded they surrender their BVR proof of registration slips
to him for safe keeping. The victims are said to have refused
to hand over their slips and they threatened to go and seek
clarity at ZEC offices.
On 12 December, in Gokwe Sesame ward 12, Nemangwe at
Kwaramba Business Centre, Karara a case of intra-party
squabbles was reported. It is alleged that Kopiasi Mpofu a
Zanu PF youth officer insulted a fellow Zanu PF youth
Learnmore Chipere* after Mpofu was told that the resignation
of former president Robert Mugabe from his post meant youth
officers known as ghost workers in some circles were also
supposed to cease to exist. Chipere is also alleged to have said
the new government under President Mnangagwa must further
arrest these youth officers. These utterances are reported to
have not gone down well with Mpofu leading to the verbal
exchange of words between the two Zanu PF youths.

In Mzimuni village at ward 3 of Gwanda North constituency,
it was reported that village leaders who are also known Zanu
PF members only identified as Beauty Ncube and M. Ndlovu
threatened villagers to register and ultimately vote for Zanu
PF. It is said that they warned individuals that those that will
vote for the opposition risk being punished as the BVR has
‘special features’ of tracing how individuals voted. In their
speech, it is alleged that they strongly ordered individuals to
submit their serial numbers.

In Gokwe-Kana, ward 1 Muyambi, a case of Zanu PF intraparty violence was reported on 29 December. It is alleged that
Temba Ndhlovu was assaulted by Mike Nyoni both affiliated
to Zanu PF. It was reported that details leading to the assault
were based on factionalism. Ndhlovu was questioned by
Nyoni on why he had been previously a strong supporter of
former President Mugabe and the G40 cabal. He was then
assaulted. The matter was not reported to the police.
On 30 December, in Gweru-Chiwundura at Mkoba 14
Shopping Centre it was reported that six Zanu PF youths
suspected to be part of faction in Zanu PF referred to as
Lacoste team allegedly confronted Thomas Chitere of G40. It
was then said the youths forced Chitere to give them what
they called confidential plans of the G40 faction. Thus Chitere
is said to have told the six thàt he does not hold any
information besides being a member of the Zanu PF party not
a faction. Thus he was then told that these six had a list of
people with a record of trying to fight the new Zanu PF
leadership under President Mnangangwa. Chitere was then
forced to wear a t/shirt with President Mnangagwa’s image on
it. Only one youth out of the six was identified as Tinashe
Makopa.
