In Lusaka, Highfield East, an organisation whose mandate is to restore the environment
initiated a gardening project to assist residents and Zanu PF youths are reported to have
threatened to remove the water pipes from the garden citing that they were not consulted
about the project. The youths also accused the Lusaka residents of not attending Zanu PF
meetings.

There was food distribution at Caledonia farm, Pota area in Mabvuku / Tafara constituency. It
is alleged residents from Tafara did not benefit, the elderly were labeled ‘sellouts’ while men
and women were accused of not attending Zanu PF meetings. The maize from GMB was
distributed by Zanu PF Tafara South Chairperson, Munyaradzi Nyamukondiwa.

Right to Water
In Epworth there is a serious shortage of water and residents rely on a few boreholes donated
by a local church. Those with boreholes in Makomo area are charging $2 per month for people
to access the water while tuckshops are also selling water for 20 cents per bucket and only 4
buckets are allowed per person per day.

In Zengeza West, wards 7 and 9 have boreholes but the rest of the wards don’t. It is alleged
that the ward 7 borehole has been politicized by Zanu PF supporters who declared that their
supporters are the only ones who get water for free and everyone else has to pay.
