Villagers in wards 3 and 11 under Chief Sibasa in Insiza South complained that Ecocash agents
require them to buy goods from their shops before they can cash out the $7 that is supplied by
World Vision as part of a drought relief scheme. A World Vision official said the organisation will
ratify the issue regarding unfair charges by Ecocash agents.

Department of Social Welfare food was distributed at Empandeni Centre in Mangwe where people
were requested to produce membership cards in order to benefit. In the area almost all village
heads and councilors are Zanu PF members and prioritise those who support their party.

*Angela Zhou, an MDC-T activist from ward 2 in Gutu, was allegedly removed from the food
register by youth officers Douglas Gwatidzo and Richard Shoniwa under the instructions of
Headman Tichaona Kumbweya.

Army trucks were used to transport maize from Jerera to ward 20, 24 and 30. Villagers allege
that military officers were manning the registration desk and this made it difficult for people to
air their grievances regarding food distribution.

At Roma Business Centre in Chiredzi East, MDC-T supporter *Silas Chiza of Gava village
ward 15 was allegedly denied access to Social Welfare food aid by a Zanu PF chairperson Mr
Chisvinga on allegations of supporting MDC-T. Mr Chisvinga directly confronted Chiza and
told him that unless he comes back to Zanu PF he will not get food.
