People of ward 17 in Hurungwe West were allegedly threatened with denial of food aid and
agricultural inputs if they attended a demonstration led by Tajamuka /Sesijikile at Sengwe
Business Centre. Village heads were ordered to monitor the situation and take note of villagers
who attended the event. It is alleged that the command came from Chief Nyamhunga at a
meeting held at Magunje guest house.
Zanu PF shadow councilor Edward Chirikure of ward 9 and Member of Parliament Dexter
Nduna took over food distribution from officials that were overseeing maize distribution from the
Grain Marketing Board at Chegutu City Council. The two discarded the list of beneficiaries and
insisted that people should queue to receive the grain. As people scrambled to the front of the
queue the elderly and many others were left out. The MP announced that the distribution of rice
was to follow and told people to register their names with the shadow councillor.

At Chengetanai Old People’s Home in ward 4 Makonde district there was food distribution for
the elderly people aged 55 years and above. It is reported that after villagers waited for about
eight hours for Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Prisca Mupfumira, and
Chief Magonde. It is reported 20 known Zanu PF supporters received 5kgs of rice, one bar
green soap and 750mls cooking oil. It is reported the Zanu PF supporters also received sunhats
and t/shirts.

In Magunje maize from the GMB was reportedly distributed to ZanuPF youths at the expense of
vulnerable people. Councilor Nickson Mandere of ward 23 and the Zanu PF chairperson
Cosmas Matamba are said to have given the instruction for such distribution.
