*Ruvimbo Tavengwa (60) of Yafele village and *Janet Gwizi (70) of Muchatuta village both from
Goromonzi North were barred from receiving food aid because their sons are known MDC-T
supporters. It is reported that the two elderly women, who should be accessing food by virtue of
being senior citizens, were told to participate in the food for work programme if they wanted to
benefit.

At Kapfura Busines Centre in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe, *Sekai Nyamukondiwa was denied
food aid despite having participated in the food for work program. Councillor Pedzisai Makoma
of Karamba ward was responsible for the distribution and accused Nyamukondiwa of not
attending Zanu PF meetings.

The distribution of farming inputs in Seke wards 7 and 8 was conducted along partisan lines as
it is alleged that no supporters of the opposition political parties were enlisted as beneficiaries.

In Goromonzi South an increasing number of children are dropping out of school due to hunger
and opting to offer manual labour in exchange for vegetables and other basic food
commodities.

In ward 17 Goromonzi South it is alleged that the Department of Social Welfare distributed
maize to newly resettled Zanu PF supporters at Belmont farm. Distribution was done by
Councillor Kunyetu of Zanu PF. The maize was distributed to Zanu PF supporters only.

Councilor Felix Munyukwi of ward 3 in Murehwa North announced that he was going to remove
names of three people from the list of food for work beneficiaries on the basis that the three
were opposition supporters. He went on to remove *Eva Huni, *Darlington Kadogo and Patrick
Chapfika. They were informed that they were not going to participate in the programme
because it was meant for Zanu PF supporters. Munyukwi said no opposition supporter was
going to benefit from other programmes in the ward.
