*Maureen Choga of Mupatsi village, ward 8 in Makoni West was allegedly denied access to
food aid by a youth officer, Jeffer Matanda, on allegations of failing to attend Zanu PF
meetings. Matanda was tasked to list vulnerable people in need of food support and did not
consider Choga. Choga suffers from elephantiasis and cannot walk long distances.
Councillor Mwadira of Zanu PF is alleged to have told villagers at Clear Waters Business
Centre that those from ward 7 in Chipinge Central who are not Zanu PF card carrying
members should not expect food aid that is from a Zanu PF government.
*William Chengeta and *Roland Kwangwari were allegedly denied food aid by Headman
Chanhuwa and councillor Utseya of Zanu PF at Biriiri Business Centre in Chimanimani West.
The two were accused of supporting MDC-T. Chengeta and Kwangwari were in the queue
waiting their turn to receive the aid when Chanhuwa allegedly called and ordered them to
leave the queue.

At Bumba GMB ward 7 in Chimanimani East four villagers were allegedly denied access to
food aid by Headman Shepherd Mudziwepasi. The Headman told the four victims to collect
their allocation from the District Administrator’s since he was the one who had added their
names on the food list. It is alleged the victims had complained to the DA of their exclusion
and the DA who is the custodian of all District information, added the victims on the list.

Kumbirai Mushango, a youth officer, from ward 7 in Chimanimani East is alleged to have been
identifying people to be considered for Social Welfare food aid program despite it being the
duty of village heads and councillors. This has compromised the program in Chimanimani
East as only Zanu PF members are benefiting.
Right to

At Musirizwi primary, Chipinge East, about 20 pupils are reported to have dropped out of
school between September and October due to food shortages. The school’s feeding program
