ZPP recorded 2 cases related to equality and non-discrimination. Manicaland and Mashonaland West recorded 1 case
each.
In ward 17, Hurungwe West it is alleged that, Zanu PF member Jealous Mutemachani denied 3 citizens from
accessing their Pfumvudza inputs allocations. Reports indicate that the three were denied top dressing fertiliser for
allegedly supporting the CCC opposition party. Chief Nyamhunga Mutemachani who is the Kasipiriki Zanu PF District
Chairperson, and a member of Zanu PF Forever Associates Zimbabwe Trust (FAZ) told the three suspected CCC
members that inputs were from his Zanu PF party leader to empower Zanu PF supporters not sellouts. He reiterated
that, a donkey sucks on a donkey not on a cow. The three left the meeting humiliated and empty handed. As long as
resources from the fiscus where most citizens contribute, are used to source food and other aid all citizens
regardless of political affiliation should access. Food distribution should always be guided by humanitarian
standards of dignity, neutrality and impartiality.
Section 56 of the Constitution states that every Zimbabwean has the right not to be treated in an unfair and
discriminatory manner on such grounds as their nationality, race, colour, tribe, language, class or political affiliation
among others. According to Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the right to equal
treatment requires that all persons be treated equally before the law, without discrimination. This is supported by
Articles 2 and 3 of the ACHPR.
