Mwenezi East by-election. During the meeting that was held on the 17th, one war veteran by the name
Tom is alleged to have asked the villagers that those who did not cast their votes in the by-election must
state the reasons that made them not participate and after that they must disclose who they are going to
vote for if they had participated in the voting process. He said this was being done in order for them to
establish who is who in the ward.

and reported that cases of intimidation and threats were recorded. It is alleged that in his opening remarks at

the ceremony, Chief Madyangove threatened all opposition supporters saying that in the upcoming 2018
polls they will be in serious danger.

of It was reported that one Jibongo Chauke approached the victim Prisca Mamombe* who is known to be

and an MDC-T activist. Chauke who is a known Zanu PF supporter is said to have accused Mamombe of
association
having deliberately ignored the directive to pay $1 which was meant to be for the independence
celebrations. Chauke is alleged to have threatened Mamombe with assault and further intimidated her by
saying she was going to be dealt with during the upcoming 2018 election campaigns. Chauke is also
alleged to have threatened other unidentified perceived opposition supporters who were nearby.
