APRIL 2024 MONTHLY MONITORING REPORT | 7 PROVINCIAL OUTLOOK Masvingo In Harare, a 19-year-old female working for a non-governmental organisation was abducted and sexually assaulted near Avenues Clinic, by unknown perpetrators. The victim was later dumped in the Western suburbs of Harare. The case was reported to the police, but no arrests have been made. Intimidation was reported during a residents meeting in Kuwadzana West, where ZANU PF Chairperson Chinhengo warned residents that if they do not attend ruling party meetings, they risk losing their residential stands. In Epworth South a ZANU PF member was seen parading a newly issued Mozambican national identity card and claimed he was issued the ID for him to vote in the scheduled elections in Mozambique. Suspected members of FAZ and ZANU PF activists physically clashed with CCC supporters at a polling station in Harare east during the National Assembly byelections for Harare East Constituency. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has been conducting raids on money changers in Harare Central following the Reserve Bank's introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency. In Harare Central Business District, there were reports of chaotic street fights between police and money changers resulting in some injuries and several arrests. Mashonaland Central On 28 April, ZANU PF convened a meeting for vendors in Bindura North ward 12 and vendors were forced to sing and chant ZANU PF slogans. The council demanded exorbitant vending fees and ZANU PF promised to intervene. In Guruve North at Mucheri village, Village Head Stavison Muzhona threatened those who failed to contribute towards independence day celebrations with denial of food and other aid inputs from donors and the government.
