Henry Kachepa, a Zanu PF youth officer, is alleged to be forcing youths in Mudzi North at Chigwell Farm ward 24 to contribute a dollar each towards a Zanu PF youth gala. It is alleged that Kachepa is using force and threats to collect money as he intends to throw a Zanu PF gala In Mudzi North. Youths in the area have complained about the exercise arguing that they cannot afford. Residents in Wedza North constituency are allegedly being forced to contribute 50 cents towards the rally on 2 June 2017 when the President interfaces with the youth. It is alleged that Wedza Member of Parliament, David Musabayana, Senator Rosemary Goto and the District Administrator Kenneth Shumba revealed that they were given a target of $10 000 to contribute as a district to ensure smooth running of the rally. A full council meeting was held in Wedza North on 13 May in the council boardroom to map a strategy for the collection of the funds. When called for comment, Senator Goto said she was in no position to confirm or deny fundraising and said these are preparations being undertaken by herself and others on behalf of Zanu PF as a party. David Kufakwemba, a Zanu PF ward 24 councillor, gathered people of Mudzi North on 5 May 2017 at Nyamuyaruka Bussines Centre. The agenda of the meeting was to come up with a strategy on the contributions towards the presidential rally in Marondera. Residents were compelled to pay $1.50 per household. Villagers were not happy about the forced contributions however a number contributed towards the rally out of fear. At Goromonzi Primary School, in ward 16 of Goromonzi North a number of pupils were allegedly turned away by deputy headmaster, Chavi, on their first day of school. The students were turned away on opening day, 9 May, because their parents had failed to pay fees ahead of opening day. Communities in Wedza South are being forced by the youth district committee led by Rheneas Dhave to contribute towards the same rally. Households with members who are gainfully employed are being compelled to contribute a dollar and households where no one is formally employed are compelled to contribute fifty cents. Contributions commenced on 3 May. On 19 May the committee noted the names and identity numbers of those that have made the contributions. On three consecutive days, from 9 to 11 May, teachers from St Roberts Dzova primary and secondary school in Hwedza were forced by Zanu PF village chairperson, Mavhondo to each pay a $1 towards fundraising for the presidential rally in Marondera in June. Villagers from Wedza were allegedly forced by Zanu PF District Secretary, Bachi, to each contribute 50 cents towards transport fares to ferry 400 party members to Marondera. Villagers were informed through letters addressed to cell chairpersons and signed off by the district secretary and district treasurer. On 11 May, Godfrey Tembo collected money from people in Magamba cell, Jongwe branch of ward 15. Threat level: low 9
