25 October Freedom of Expression Bulawayo East residents are displeased with police roadblocks that are allegedly manned by even up to 12 police officers. The residents say that the presence of the police is worrisome especially after the incidences where police violently attacked residents. 28 October Freedom of Assembly and Association Zanu PF youths disrupted a public hearing on electoral reforms at Iminyela hall conducted in response to a petition presented to Parliament by the Election Resource Centre. The public hearings were being led by the Justice, Legal Parliamentary Portfolio Committee led by Hon Jessie Majome. The meeting sought to gather views of residents regarding a petition calling for the right to vote for all eligible voters, electoral justice, a continuous process of voter education, independence of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and an improved voter registration process. Also in attendance were MDC-T Chief Whip and Mutare Central MP, Innocent Gonese, Hon Priscilla Misihairabwi and MDC-T Proportional Representation MP Nomathemba Ndlovu among others. Political rights according to section 67 Harare Socio-economic issues continue to affect Harare based citizens as water shortages and intimidation of ordinary citizens by Zanu PF supporters persist. Date HR Violated Provincial highlights 2 October Right to personal security 20 soldiers are reported to have assaulted *Lucas Razunguzwa and Simbiso Mumbire in their pursuit of *Moses Nakoma, the Hopley MDC-T youth Chairperson. Nakoma’s wife and six-week-old infant were also assaulted when the soldiers kicked their door open before ransacking the house. The army officers proceeded to look for another MDC-T supporter, *Moreblessing Chedondo, whom they found at a bar and assaulted. Chedondo suspects the harassment had to do with allocation of stands where some MDC-T supporters are said to have benefited. Freedom from torture 12
